Policies
Please be sure that anyone staying on your site knows and understands what is allowed. Anyone failing to abide by the rules will be asked to leave. Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior, safety and whereabouts at all times while within the campground.
We reserve the right to ask any camper(s) or guest whose conduct, in our opinion, is causing a disturbance, endangering life in any way, interfering with the orderly operation, or breaking the rules of the campground to leave the premises. Refunds will not be granted.
Our top priority during this unprecedented time is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of our campground visitors and staff.
Brown Tail Moth (BTM) plagued Wolfe’s Neck Center Oceanfront Campground in an unexpected and very aggressive way in 2023. We had been spraying each spring for BTM through 2019. In 2019, because of an unusually wet May, a fungus invaded the BTM nests in our area and minimized them as an issue for us until this past summer. By the time we realized this summer’s bad infestation, the time to spray had already passed.
In 2024, we will return to spraying; however, treatment for WNC has become more complicated because of the needed certification to qualify as being organic. We would like to use the same product we used for many years (Entrust), as it is authorized by MOFGA (Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners) but there is uncertainty whether this product will be recertified in Maine for 2024. Also, Maine laws have changed so we cannot use any spray product within 100 feet of the high-water mark. Being close to the ocean, we have to address this concern because at least a dozen of our most popular affected sites are within 100 feet of that mark. So, we will absolutely be treating BTM for the 2024 camping season and will use all applications available to us – but we cannot guarantee complete eradication.
